I’ve had the pleasure of working in collaboration with Dan across two youth group sessions, and I can confidently say the experiences he created were outstanding.
The first session was with a boys group I ran, where Dan facilitated an outdoor experience in the woods for myself, two colleagues and the young people. The session was thoughtfully planned and hands-on, giving the group the opportunity to build a fire, cook over it and put up a shelter. It created a really natural environment for relationship building and it was great to see the young people engaging in an environment they were unfamiliar with.
Following this, I worked with Dan again alongside colleagues and joining up 3 youth groups. Once again, the session was highly interactive and inclusive, allowing all of the young people to take part at their own pace. Both sessions provided a memorable experience that genuinely supported bonding between the young people and strengthened relationships with staff.
The feedback from young people was really positive. Some said it was “the best session they’ve done,” while others shared how much they enjoyed learning new skills and being outdoors.
Dan’s knowledge and enthusiasm really was really beneficial, he kept everyone engaged throughout and adapted activities to suit the group dynamics. It’s fair to say he’s basically Leicestershire’s very own Bear Grylls!
Overall, his expertise definitely helped bring the sessions to life. I would highly recommend Dan to anyone looking to deliver meaningful, engaging outdoor experiences for young people.
